Condition
Cold sores are painful, fluid-filled blisters that form on the borders of the lips most often caused by the herpes simplex 1 virus. These contagious blisters break and then crust over before healing, leaving an unsightly scab on the lips. Recurrences are common and can be triggered by stress, sun exposure, lowered immunity and menstruation. Genital herpes infection is a related condition although usually caused by herpes simplex 2.

Components and Mechanism of Action
Lysine Lip Clear – More than just Lysine
Clinical trials have shown that taking Lysine orally seems to reduce recurrences of cold sores and may also reduce the severity and healing time of infections. However, Lysine Lip Clear is more than just Lysine.

A Dual Action Formula
Lysine Lip Clear also contains Bioflavonoids, which are natural synergistic partners for Vitamin C, and help aid its absorption. Research has also revealed that a combination of 200mg of Vitamin C plus 200mg of Bioflavonoids taken 3 times a day has been shown to inhibit the formation and bursting of the blisters. This works best when taken within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms (i.e. tingling or burning). So Lysine Lip Clear doesn’t just work to reduce the risk of cold sores it can also be used in the management of an outbreak!

Co-factors
Furthermore Vitamin C is important in the healing of wounds and the synthesis of collagen for connective tissue in the skin and Zinc plays a role in assisting with immunity and wound healing.
